Can I just replace Single glazed Units with Double glazed ones? Bearing in mind I want to keep the wood frames?
I have wood framed single glazed windows and I would like to replace just the Glazing units with double glazed ones. I want to keep the wood frames though.
I am finding it really hard to find a supplier and fitter that wants to do this.
Would I just need a good builder/maintenance person to source the window units and then fit them?
I can't find any window company that wants to or that can do this!

It is unlikely that the rebates in frames intended for a single thickness of glass will be deep enough to take double glazed units. Most sealed units are now at least an inch thick overall, which is at least as much as the timber of the glazing bars and opening frames will be in total.
