How can I make this room more cosy? (pics)?

This is the small studio flat (apartment for the Americans) I'll shortly be moving to. It's already quite cosy, but I'd like to capitalize on the sort of treehouse feel it has to it. I want it to be a real hideaway and very cosy! What would you do to it? I can't change the furniture unfortunately.

I also want to get a big rug, as I find that more comfy than just wooden floors. Which colour would be good? Also, what colour duvet would be nice? Maybe the room's a bit *too* brown at the moment.

Thanks for your advice!
I want it to feel quite natural and nature based. Like a cosy treehouse in a forest.

Cover table with tablecloth or material, place one or two plants, there are plenty of indoor plants that are easy (philodendron, pathos, ferns, etc)

Place some brightly colored big pillows along back wall of bed and along headboard side - this becomes a seating area
Rug can be abstract with several colors, main color perhaps tan, with green or another color. Duvet I would make a pleasing shade of green or greens - nature
Colorful cusions on couch - you can take cushion or pillow, wrap it in bright colors and simply tie the ends

Place several plants around
If you have an old trunk, use it as coffee table
