Why does my cat poop and pee when a storm rolls throgh town?
Whenever it storms in our town..one of my cats gets in this weird "zone" where he meows really strangely, he hunkers down to the ground as close as he can like the roof is caving in or something. He'll slowly walk into a dark area in the hallway or behind the couch and both pee and poop right there. This happens when its not even storming alot, its like he "feels" the storm coming..and it eventually scares the shit out of him...literally!! Its driving my wife CrAzY to the point where she wants to get rid him! He uses the restroom normally otherwise..but when there is a storm coming into town, sure enough..he'll end up crapping and peeing on the floor. Is my cat mental?? When he gets in this "zone" you can roll him around, flip him upside down, do what-ever with him and he is like a vegetable...its like i said...he's in a zone...or hypnotized (sp?) but then he craps himself and he's better. Really strange!! Can a vet perscribe some crazy pills or something? Please, HELP!!
I would talk to the vet to see what they have to say -
BUT, that being said, I would work on grabbing him when he starts to get into that "zone" and hold/comfort him (maybe feed him special canned food or something- if you do that enough, maybe he will start to equate that formerly scary time with a positive experience, and then will just hide or come to you for comfort.
