My cat still scratches the carpet?
My cat has two scratching posts, and a turbo scratcher which he uses, but he still has his favourite spots on my carpet to scratch as well!!
Is there any way I can stop this!

When you catch your kitty scratching on the rug, immediately remove him from the carpet and bring him to the scratching post, preferable impregnated with catnip and praise him a lot! But all scratching posts are not created equally!
There are all kinds of scratching posts. Many of them are not attractive to cats, due to their texture and height.
Posts should be covered with sissal, and, in your case not covered with carpeting at all. They need to be high enough for your cat to be able to fully stretch out his body, as scratching is not only done to clean claw shealths ( cats really do not use them to "sharpen" their nails) but also to be able to stretch out their muscles, especially after a nap.
Turbos are great if cats use them! Mine wouldn't touch them after one try. I gave it away! Cat poles ( trees- or towers) are excellent ones covered with sissal, of course. Rough textures are far more attractive to cats for this purpose, actually.
Since cats scratch also to mark their territories, the suggestion about cleaning the spots with an enyzmatic cleaner is excellent. You can cover those spots after they are cleaned and dry, with pieces of plastic runners. Cats do not like plastic textures to scratch on. You could also try placing a tall post over the spots where he prefers to scratch on the carpet, as well. I have about 2 posts in each room, and my kitties do not touch the carpet at all. But what they do love to scratch on, horizontally, are carpet samples turned upside down, so the backing texture is available to them. They love these and they cost a couple of bucks from a carpet store... some stores will just give them away if you tell them about their intended purpose.
Soft paws, ( already suggested as well ) is another possibility but I have never had to resort to them. I trim my cats' claws every two weeks as well.
By the way, I have wall-to-wall carpeting throughout my house, and they have never mauled the carpet, as I have not only scratching devices, but a tower in each room. They love to climb the towers, and scratch their little hearts out.

But do experiment with different tall scratching posts. Here are some other suggestions I found as well.
"Consider giving your cat extra attention when he stirs from a nap, and then placing him near the scratching post, since many cats scratch when waking up."
And remember....
"Avoid punishing your cat if he scratches an inappropriate area - punishment teaches the cat to not scratch in your presence, but it won't deter a cat from scratching when you're not around"
