Building my First Computer?
I want to build my own computer this summer. I want to start off kinda cheap ($6-$700) and then be able to upgrade parts as i go. I'll be starting from scratch so i'll need everything (Tower only tho as i'll have a screen, keyboard mouse)
Can you guys give me some tips? I'm going to assume i should splurge on the case so i can upgrade alot as time goes on. Problem is im not sure what to start out with.
Can some one do a few links of parts that i'll need. (A site that sells all the things would be nice soon)
And if someone could help explain what some things stand for and how important they are when building a computer. (I.E. - FSB on a CPU, ect ect)
Thanks a lot in advance if you take the time to help =)
P.S. - if you dont want to post specific items can you give me a general idea of what specs to look for on different items, thanks
$700 budget - we'll assume no SLI, although 750i SLI chipset is only $150 to $190.

AMD Dual core 5000+ Brisbane Black Edition is cheap, but much slower than Intel Wolfdale. You will be disappointed with the performance. Wolfdale performs better than Phenom 9850 Quad even at stock freqs. Wolfdale is 45nm and 65W. Runs cool at 35C on load overclocked to 3.6Ghz on Air cooling (easy newb 400Mhz FSB).
FSB is Motherboard Front Side Bus - carries data between CPU, Northbridge, Southbridge, memory controller, Video Controller etc. It is the Bus Speed of the CPU, RAM, PCI-e bus etc.. although it is quad pumped for CPU and dual pumped for RAM.
So 333Mhz FSB for CPU is 1333Mhz overall.
Intel CPUs have locked multipliers, meaning the only way to overclock is through FSB (AMD BLack Edition CPUs have unlocked Multipliers). Most good Intel Mobo can bump FSB to 400Mhz. RAM can also be overclocked, but is only useful if CAS Latency remains unchanged (or better yet reduced).
