How do I get my real wood floors (not laminate or pergo) to not look smudgy?
They look great when I first clean them (with Swiffer for wood) but the minute you step onto them, they immediately get smudgy. Someone mentioned that I might have a buildup on it, and I should try vinegar, but I'm not sure how to go about it.
Get rid of the Swiffer.
It sounds like you do have build up and that is what is causing the haze.
Mop the floors with clear water and make sure the wring and rinse your mop often so that you pick up the detergent that has been left on your floors. It may take several moppings to remove all of the soap that has been left behind.
After doing this look for a hardwood floor cleaner at Home Depot or Lowe's. Avoid products with amonia.
