My light weight woollen quilt has shrunk and the wool is now matted?

It was accidentally put in the washing machine, is there any hope or shall i now use it for a single bed!

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do now. Wool will not come back to it's original size after being washed. Yep... use it on a single bed now if you can.
