Why Does My Dog Always Roll Around In Smelly Stuff On Purpose!?

she rolls around in grass in my backyard and when she comes inside she smells like crap/pee. today she smelled SO bad like cat pee or something it was awful so i gave her a bath of course..and then i let her out again and the first thing she did was try to roll around and get a smell on her! wtf??

They do that to mask their scent. When a dog wags it's tail, it's spreading it's scent. When they roll in things, they mask it. Baths may have a nice odor to us, but it's probably over-powering to them. They don't want to be found, so they roll in something ucky.

To stop her, remove as many bad smell sources as you can. Don't spank her, she won't get the message. Keep her on a leash for a while, and if she is about to roll in something, lead her away from it.
