what do we do now?
hi
weve been treatin our dog with frontline 4 2 weeks, we arent sure its been workin cos he was still still stratching &biting. he's got a really think coat (black) so its hard to tell. hes gettin a haircut. i dont no if she'll wash him with flea shampoo. i said we were treating him with frontline
but im wondering what to do, obviously we have been hoovering and sprayig RIP perythmiyhin spray for 2 weeks. but should i put another frontline on him? the first one i put on him on the 8th september, but found out it may not work cos we gave him a bath the day before (we werent told by the vet)
so a week later i put frontline on him again, (with the vets advice) that was 2 weeks ago. do i put another one on or leave it? obviously i dont want to overload his skin .
the vet said it would be ok to do so. but i know the pack says its every 2 months. and we will wash his bed he will have to lie on the carpet til its dry (we dont have a tumble dryer) but is all we can do hoover? thnx
Firstly, you should be aware that Frontline can irritate the skin of some dogs. It has also been linked to cancer in dogs.
I assume you are trying to treat a flea infestation, have you actually seen any lately? Although I don't use any unnatural chemicals for parasite control on my own dogs, I do know that frontline, advantage etc. are quick and effective at doing the job.
If your dog is still scratching and biting at himself, I would investigate some kind of skin complaint or an allergy. Consider changing his food as some commercial foods can have adverse reactions.
My personal choice for flea and tic control is regular (daily) grooming, a good healthy diet (I will not feed my dogs commercial food). I add a minced clove of garlic to the dogs food every two days, also I add a few teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar to their food daily. The on a weekly basis, I spay the dogs with a small amount of diluted Apple Cider Vinegar. I have never had a flea or tic problem with my dogs.
