What should the floor thickness be on a concrete floor, suspended in metal decking, for a pet lodging facility
The building will be pier and beam due to being in a flood area. I was going to use concrete piers, and steel framing, with a ribbed decking to pour concrete over. The outside walls will be the only walls. It would help to know if I need to do anything special on the outside walls, what the concrete thickness should be, and what the pier, and joist spacing should be.Any assistance that you can give me would be very much appreciated. You really need to have an engineer design the building for you to assure safety. Not only will pets be in the building, but some human will have to bring the pets to their cages and clean, feed and water them. I would look at a minimum of 4" thick slab, with #4 rebar on 12-18" centers.
