What is a low cost, highly effective flea treatment for both cats & dogs? Frontline Plus...?
...isn't cutting it this year!!
We've always had good results with Frontline Plus (which to me is expensive, but hey, if it works...) but this summer, even using as directed, our dogs & cat are still battling fleas! Any cheap but effective remedies you can offer ??
We had the exact same problem with fleas this year. Usually, if I treat the dog monthly with Frontline..I only have to do the indoor cats once a season...
This year, I did the Frontline treatment on the dog and 4 cats and the fleas just increased. They had to suffer through the 30 days until I could give them all a treatment of Advantage. Even giving the dog flea baths didn't get rid of them all. There was no way I was going to bathe the cats...16 pounders with all claws in tact..YIKES.
Within 24 hours of applying Advantage, all the fleas were gone. I do run the Roomba robot vacuum each and every day, just to keep up with the fur balls and sand...so I suppose that helps swoop up any stray fleas that are hopping around the house. Thankfully, we have all hardwood and tile floors with scatter rugs which can just be tossed in the wash.
I've heard horror stories about the flea treatments in department stores..Hartz...and other brands. They're cheap but have made a lot of pets sick.
So you might just have to bite the bullet and get the Advantage topical treatments. It's so expensive but it works.
