What's wrong with my guitar hero game???

Is it the disk or the guitar??? when i first used it it was fine. then i tried puttin on the strap while it was on (could this be it?). but for no reason, whenever i was at a main menu it would keep scrolling down the list nonstop! but it doesnt do it for some menus. like right after u finish a song and get the the 'continue..replay..exit' menu. the song menu, difficulty, player, guitar, main menu, stuff like that.. it just keeps scrolling nonstop. but its fine while im performing the song. is it the strum on the guitar... or sumthing else on the guitar... or is it the disk?? can u help me???

The only explanation I can think of is this:
Make sure you're not pressing any buttons or anything when you turn on the Xbox. This can cause the system to think that the button/strummer/joystick is in its neutral position when it really isn't. Some systems just assume that all the components are not being messed with when turned on, and all actions are judged relativly to that neutral position.

Basically, just try turning on your Xbox or Playstation or whatever without pressing any buttons on the controler until it is all the way started up.
