Help with ferret smell new home?

We just got a new house and i want to get a ferret but my dad is afraid it will make are new house stink. Is there away to stop or help with the smell?

Having the scent glands removed is not necessary, as they only use these when scared or frightened. Having them castrated/spayed does help reduce the smell. Washing a ferret, in fact makes it smell a few days later as the ferret replaces the oils in it's coat, plus it's bad for it's skin to regularly wash a ferret. You can buy a ferret deodourizer from the pet shop but I have never used it on mine so I can't comment on that.

As long as you clean the toilet area out as it's soiled and bedding and hammocks kept clean and washed you will hardly notice the odour. I personally think Hamsters and mice smell worse than a well kept ferret.
