Should I buy a leather couch with cats?
we have a microfiber couch, they really didn't mess w/ scratching it but a few times ,and they got yelled at and sprayed for it, so they stay clear. However, the couch stinks all the time. If the cat sits on it or we have company over, or feet stink, it retains the smell. I am washing the covers almost every other day now. Whatever the smell that touches it is, it retains it in there , im just sick of it, i was wondering, does leather take in smells? we want a child in a year or so, are they easy to wipe clean? im a little worried about the cat scratching the leather, but we will keep all 3 of the cats paws clipped, and a water bottle by the sofas. Do you think its a good idea to change? its just really embarresing when people come over, im afriad they will lay on the couch and smell all the nasty stuff we have to.
I have had 5 cats, 2 children, and one leather sofa. Leather is the ONLY way go to with cats and kids. Cats don't really like to scratch leather, and it won't take in the smells if the cat pees or pukes if you clean it up right away (unlike fabric, which is ruined most of the time). Leather is super easy to wipe clean. Leather is can be more expensive, but will cost you less in the long run. It's a great idea, go for it. P.S. sometimes you can find relatively inexpensive leather couches on Craigslist.
