Do kittens need vitamin supplement?
I just bought a bottle of softgels for cats that contain squalene, squalamine, alklyglycerols, omegas, EPA, and DHA, from fishes in Norway—or so it says. It's promised to maintain health, promotes immune system, and growth of coat. But recently I have doubts if it's really needed. What do you think?
unless you are attempting to feed them "table food" or human food, I see no reason to add any kind of supplement. I'd not suggest feeding them that way, any way!
If they are eating normal cat food, especially for kittens, it will already have all the needed extra vitamins and nutrients that kittens need - if the kittens are not yet weaned and you are just starting them out on solid food, that food should also be "kitten" food, plus the nutrients they will get from the mother's milk.
In all the years I've had cats and kittens, I've never added any kind of "supplement" to their diet - I've also never raised a cat on table food.
Check with your vet, if you really are worried, but trust the cat food companies, and their mother, to feed them the right combination of what they need.
good luck.
