Cat toy was filled with trash -- aren't there some kind of standards?

I went to buy some catnip and there wasn't any, only catnip-filled toys.

So I bought a small pillow-looking thing that said, "I love cats" and was supposed to be filled with catnip. It only cost $1, so I figured I'd slit it opened and get the miniscule amount of catnip out.

The cat had no interest in the toy whatsoever before I cut it open.

Inside the toy were bits of shredded chewing gum wrappers, foil, a shred of cheap material like the inside of a pants pocket on a pair of bluejeans, a dirty, shredded piece of a shoelace, and what might have once been a seal on a milk-jug top.

Although the item was too strong for a cat to rip open, I find it highly disturbing that this kind of stuff is being used to stuff 'catnip' cat toys. Even foam rubber is more acceptable.

I don't know how things work in Norway so I'm not sure if I can be of any help but I don't think you should let this go.
If you were in the USA I would say call the Better Business Bureau and report the manufacturer, call your Attorney Generals Office and report the same, call the manufacturer and complain. I would call my local newspaper and see if I could get them to print an article about the potential harm and inhumane treatment to cats.
Do you have any animal rights organizations in Norway? Like PETA?
I would raise cain on this one. I can't stand people who abuse animals in any way and this, in my opinion, is abuse. Not to mention the fact that you got ripped off (even if it was only for a dollar), and completely misled (as in lied to) as to what you were purchasing. Outrageous!
