Making shelves for a ferret cage?

I just bought a ferret nation cage (142 model) but it doesn't have the two shelves, three ramps, or the tray that goes on the second level. I emailed Midwest and I can get the extra parts I need but I'm not sure how much they all cost (they aren't open for a few more days, no one is at the phone). I think I found some things that would work as ramps, but is there a way I could make my own shelves? I just need the two shelves that attach on the side of the cage on each level. Right now my ferret is still very young and doesn't weight much, he's probably just one pound or so. Though he's a male so I expect him to get larger. I have guys in my family who are good at building things so does anyone have any ideas for building/attaching a shelf to the side of the cage?

OMG I know exactly what you need. I completely forgot the website, but I'm going to look around and ask on the forums I'm on and find out what it is for you. They make shelves that are kind of like trampolines and things.

If that doesn't work out, I would get plastic storage bins. Push it into the corner, and cut a hole in the side facing inside the cage. The top can be the shelf, and inside can be a great sleeping den/ eating den/ litter box. If your family is capable of bending or welding metal, you could attempt to re-create a kind of shelf for the cage- the pics at the bottom are to give you a visual idea of the shelf. ( I was showing someone how bedding goes on the shelf, and pics because I contacted Midwest and the shelf pan was defected and a little crooked.

If you're making your own, I suggest you get storage cubes, and weld on the little hooks to hook into the holes for the shelf and the little squares on the end that help hold it up. Coroplast could be used to cover the wire.
