Any idea on how I can find my cats collar?
It was one of those breakaway collars and I'm guessing it got caught on something and broke off (it happened once before). The last time it did, she liked to stay close to the house and we heard her before it broke off. This time, she lost it somewhere in the "woods" behind our house. I live in Florida and our woods consist of pine trees and the bushes are vines, palm trees, and weird bushes that spread everywhere. Her collar is silver with sparkles. It has a bell and her tag is bright pink. It stands out extremely well in the woods. Any advise on how to find it? We don't want to spend another $10 on a tag and collar if we know the area its in.
Oh, trust me, I've spent my good money on replacing collars! It's part of the cost of cats!
I've found the collars outdoors, in the back of closets, even under the bed. Unless your collar is equipped with an electronic tracking device, it's going to get lost and need replacing.
You MIGHT consider using a "figure-8" HARNESS (See link below). They cannot fall off, they are perfectly comfortable for a cat to wear 24/7, and cannot choke a cat if they are caught up in something while climbing or roaming around. They are very reasonably priced, too, and since your cat won't be losing it, you won't be needing to replace it.
